Oxnard, CA - August 9, 2002, Voiceboard Corporation released a new SuperSpan Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) to Packet Processor Blade for the PICMG 2.16 CompactPCI Packet Switching Backplane standard. Voiceboard's high-density SuperSpan Packet Processor offers a single blade alternative for multiple board implementations, increasing performance and significantly reducing overall system costs. The SuperSpan TDM to Packet Processor is ideal for OEM's implementing advanced performance Network Edge Gateways, trunking gateways, media gateways and 2.5/3G Wireless infrastructure systems.
OEM's historically have utilized multiple boards to achieve what now is accomplished with the new single blade SuperSpan product functionality and port density. Now there's an option to eliminate these very expensive components. The cumulative lifecycle savings of a single SuperSpan Blade solution, from acquisition costs to field support costs, become enormous.
The SuperSpan Packet Processor is a single slot solution capable of performing TDM to packet conversion on up to 512 ports. TDM data may be sourced from 8 on-board software selectable T1/E1/J1 span network interfaces, or via the H.110 backplane. Additional features include channelized DSO, fractional or unchannelized DS1 bandwidth operation, IP data streaming via dual 10/100BaseT Ethernet ports, RTP or AAL packetizing of data streams and optional HDLC frame extraction and CRC checking.
