Oxnard, CA – July 29, 2002, Voiceboard Corporation announced the release of a Software Selectable T1/E1/J1 Network Interface Controller. Voiceboard's new SuperSpan features software selection of the T1/E1/J1 network interface type, allowing OEM's to service Global customer requirements without the need to inventory different boards supporting various network standards. The SuperSpan is also compliant with the PICMG 2.16 CompactPCI Packet Switching Backplane standard.

The SuperSpan Blade, coupled with the 2.16 PSB architecture, offers significant performance enhancements to carrier class system implementations including unlimited scalability, high availability, simplified hot swap processing and distributed remote server operation. High availability is achieved because the PSB architecture eliminates all single points of failure. The SuperSpan Blade provides the developer a broad range of solutions ranging from a simple software selectable T1/E1/J1 network controller to a complete VoIP or SS7 gateway, with embedded software protocol stacks, on a single blade.
