Oxnard, CA – January 14, 2002, Voiceboard Corporation commenced shipments of its MediaPro VME II VoIP media gateway board today. The MediaPro VME II adds VoIP to VME, bridging legacy communication systems to IP packet networks. The MediaPro VME II board offers modular feature expansion, scaling from a base T1/E1/J1 network interface board to a complete VoIP Media Gateway by adding DSP processor and protocol modules.
"This is an exciting development for military applications. Not only does the MediaPro VME II provide all of the signaling and media conversion for integrating legacy voice communication equipment with voice/data packet networks", said Greg Peacock, Voiceboard CTO, "it adheres to industry standards for voice/data communication packet networks, achieving a common interoperability standard for communications between the Joint Services".
In it's media gateway configuration, MediaPro VME II uniquely includes DSP VoIP media processing and H.323 protocol stack software on board its single blade, single slot configuration. The MediaPro VME II is available in extended temperature versions for operation in tactical military environments.
The MediaPro VME II provides up to 4 T1/E1/J1 primary rate interfaces, SCSA TDM backplane bus switching, dual 100baseT Ethernet ports and optional DSP and PowerPC 750 mezzanine boards, all on a single slot 6U size VME board.
The MediaPro VME II product family is an extremely flexible and highly scaleable technology with a vast array of on-board DSP, signaling and protocol software. The off the shelf software content of MediaPro II provides our OEM customers superior return on investment along with markedly accelerated time to market.
With the addition of the Voiceboard PTMC41, a 120 port DSP mezzanine board to the MediaPro VME II, a true 120 ports of any G.72x algorithm is achievable. The DSP resources on the PTMC41 mezzanine can access data on any of the 2,048 SCSA timeslots. Voiceboard offers an extensive library of off the shelf communications software packages, including VoIP and fax/modem relay, DTMF/Call Progress functions, G.168 echo cancellation, conferencing, and terminating G3 fax or V.90 modem. The PTMC41 supports media streaming over dual redundant 100BaseT Ethernet ports, managed by its on-board PowerPC.
The PTMC41 DSP board is offered with an optional DDK (DSP developer kit) for customer porting of their own software. The DDK includes DSP McBSP and HPI I/O driver source code, along with firmware for the on board Power PC executive controller. Power PC executive controller firmware is provided to support I/O messaging, payload data transfer buffers, DSP software loading, TCP-UDP/IP protocols, carrier board 10/100baseT Ethernet drivers and a portable Ethernet host API.
The MediaPro VME II is available immediately and pricing starts at $1,750.00 in OEM quantities.
